In Belize, we toured the Mayan ruins at Lamanai. Belize actually has the highest concentration of ruins, but doesn't have the resources to excavate or maintain more than what has already been done. We rode 1 hour in a bus, then 1 hour by boat up the New River to reach the ruins. We saw some wildlife along the river, and after the return boat trip we enjoyed a delicious meal of rice, beans, chicken, and coconut pies.

I think you've moved into the 'just like mom' phase of life with that hat :).
I want to hear what you thought about buying the shore excursions versus doing things on your own.
Thanks for posting all of this so quickly! I was dying to know how things went and what it was like. This is like a dream vacation to me. That and touring Europe. :) By the way, with the move and everything going on this last week I forgot to send you and ecard on your birthday, so Happy Belated Birthday!
What a fantastic trip you two had! Would love to see the ruins. Quite fascinating to me! Glad you're back home safe and sound.
